There are presently 7 Districts in Meghalaya. The Total population of the Meghalaya is 2.97 Million.
As per Districts Census 2011, the most populated district in Meghalaya is East Khasi Hills with a population of 825,922 where as the least populated district is South Garo Hills with a population of 142,334.
As per The 2011 census of Meghalaya Districts, East Khasi Hills is the highest literate district with 84% of literacy rate where as Jaintia Hills is the least literate district with a literacy rate of 62%.
The census 2011 of Meghalaya Districts also shows that Jaintia Hills District represents the highest sex ratio with 1013 females per 1000 males while South Garo Hills District features the lowest sex ratio in India with just 945 women per 1000 males
Meghalaya State has total Area 22,429 square meters and over out of which 99% is rural area where as 1% is urban.
